Detroit is launching a transformative $700,000 initiative to strengthen the city’s growing tech sector and drive job creation.

 

Announced by Mayor Mike Duggan, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, and City Council President Mary Sheffield, the new Detroit Startup Fund will award grants to local tech startups over the next year.

 

Grants will include twenty $15,000 seed grants and six $50,000 scale grants, with the first round of winners revealed in late 2025.

 

Startups must be Detroit-based, less than ten years old, and focused on scalable offerings that benefit the city.

 

This initiative follows Detroit’s #1 global ranking as an emerging startup hub, bolstered by investments in sites like Newlab at Michigan Central and TechTown.
